ChiTownRocks features the hottest local and National Acts coming through town. Our Band Of The Month is set to feature Chicago based bands who we feel deserve the spotlight. As you all may know, STEEL PANTHER is the hottest band out of Hollywood with vocalist Michael Starr, Satchel shredding on guitar, bassist Lexxi Foxx and Stix Zadinia on drums however what many may not know is Michael Starr was raised here in Illinois.
Being one of our favorite bands with vocalist originating from Chicagoland and a brand new album out, “All You Can Eat”, we give you…
Steel Panther is back with their third full-length release “All you can eat”.
I have been psyched up for this album for quite awhile. Underneath all the jokes, the look and the spoof lays four incredible musicians. The party has been going since 2000 and shows no sign of letting up!
A few ago, Steel Panther released the single/video of “Party like tomorrow is the end of the world” from their new album. This video was a short story about the end of the world and the party that takes place the day before.
It’s filled with T&A, drug use and debauchery all the components that make up the world of Steel Panther and that’s fine with me! Not to mention the all the cameos by stars such as Steve O, Ron Jeremy and numerous others. Needless to say it got me pumped up for the new album whichcouldn’t come soon enough.
The new album, “All You Can Eat” was released April 1st. It starts off with what I consider the best track on the album “Pussywhipped”. Sachael’s acoustic intro has all the beauty of “Battery” from Metallica. What a song to start off with! I personally thinks this is by far their heaviest song to date and would love to hear more of this style. The guitars and bass are tight along with the pounding drums of Stix, and what else needs to be said about the talent of Michael Starr?
Track two is “Party Like Tomorrow is the End of the World”… see above!! The third track is “Gloryhole” (which if your subscribed to Steels Panther TV, you would of heard the opening riff in their opening segments on “This Week In Rock”). This song takes it to a new level as its all about getting sucked off through the Gloryhole in the wall, “Hilarious”!
Track Four slows down the vibe with a Whiesnake feel entitled “Bukkake Tears” …Self-explanatory. Next up, “Gangbang at the Old Folks Home”, this song is a trip and pretty much says it all through the lyrics. Track Five is a ‘Hard -Rocking- Van Halen-Style-Song’ called , “Ten Strikes Your Out”, which if you know Steel Panther’s lyrical style and personalities, you’ll appreciate it. Track Seven: “The Burden of Being Wonderful”. This is their second video from the new album and adds hints of string instruments. Once again, these guys are extremely talented musicians.
Next two tracks are hard rockers:“Fucking My Heart in the Ass” and “B.V.S”.
Track Ten: “You’re Beautiful When You Don’t Talk” is a slow paced song with a ‘Bon Jovi feel power balled’. Next up is a rocking (almost moshing tune) titled “If I Was the King”. I could totally see getting a pit going to this song! (P.S listen for the cameo guitar riff from “Death to all but metal”).
Last but not least is the final track on the album “She’s on the Rag”. An awesome opening guitar riff then into the disgusting chorus of “ Now there’s blood on my hand’s, blood on my face, blood on my dick, all over the place, now I know she’s on the rag”!
All in all this is a really hard rocking album. The band is tight as hell and always puts on a great show! This may not be some people’s cup of tea but it is for me. Anyone that is not down with SP , I’m sure in their words would be something like “Lick My Sack!!! Don’t you dare miss them when they roll through your city and if you haven’t already done so…Get the fuck up and purchase their new album “All You Can Eat”!!!
