Whitey Morgan And The 78’s at the Cobra Lounge

Whitey Morgan and the 78‘s

“It’s all about standing up”, they say!!  Local favorite Whitey Morgan of Flint, Michigan played one damn good show this past Saturday night at The Cobra Lounge. Whitey Morgan and the 78‘s brought two solid sets to their fans that night with the second being more wild then the first.  These outlaw country boys will keep you going all night long.  Only taking one short break between sets and having some good times with local friends on the floor.  Although this band is not from around here they have great support of new and old.  There’s nothing like going to a show and most of the crowd is singin’ along.  Whitey Morgan and the 78‘s played some old time favorites and some songs from their self-titled 2010 album, “Whitey Morgan and the 78’s”, which awarded them Best Country Recording under label Bloodshot Records. Their previous album, “ Honky Tonks and Cheap Motels”,  also won Best Country Vocal Performance, Best Country Songwriter, and Best Country Album by the Detroit Music Awards. These men love to please the ladies and get the men rowdy!! A few big hits from the night were, “Cheatin’ Again”,”Love and Honor”, “Prove It All to You”, “Honky Tonk Queen”, and the badass boogie of “Buick City”.Whitey Morgan really mixed his energy and edge with his cover on- “I’m on Fire” by Bruce Springsteen. I was left impressed and damn near closed out the night! Best prepare for the long haul with Whitey Morgan!

Looking back, I’d say this is a show totally worth being and hearing!  These fans danced the floor raw and spoiled the band crazy, and for a good reason too! Although they love The Cobra Lounge and I see why- I’d really love to get these boys in some great stage lighting and a pit.  I just may have to travel- Well..HELL…It just might be soon!
